Southeast Rural Fire Chief Guilty of Embezzling $33,000

A judge has sentenced a former Southeast Rural Fire Chief to prison for embezzling more than $33,000 from the fire department.  46-year-old, John Porter will spend three to four years in prison for theft, plus one year for attempted possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.  Between 2010 and last year, Porter stole money which would have gone towards supplies for volunteers.
