LINCOLN -- The city's second homicide of the year is under investigation, as Lincoln Police confirm that a 38-year-old man was shot and killed at a home in the 1900 block of North 29th Street. Nathaniel Morton, Senior died from a gunshot wound he suffered during an argument just after midnight Friday morning. Chief Jim Peschong says about two dozen people were at the house for a party. He says some gambling was going on when an argument started between Morton and someone else. It got physical and a gun was pulled out, where Morton was shot once in the chest. Morton was pronounced dead at a Lincoln hospital. Peschong says they're following up on leads in the case and working to get names of people who were at the party. An autopsy on Morton's body is underway. Police records show Morton had been contacted by officers in the past for drinking and driving and leaving the scene of an accident.
